The Bachelor of Arts program offers a liberal arts foundation in psychology that allows application
of psychology to bachelor's level careers in industry, government, and nonprofit agencies.
The affordable online bachelor degree in psychology program also provides the basic knowledge and skills for Learners to seek further education in psychology,
education, and related fields.
NC's affordable online bachelor degree in psychology program will introduce
Learners to the field of psychology and behavioral studies,
including basic understanding of human behavior and covering the
fundamental bodies of theoretical and applied psychology. Learners
will integrate formal academic studies with personal experiences so
that learning will be meaningful, personalized and relevant to
personal and professional needs.
Objectives
The objectives for the online bachelor degree in psychology (BA) are:
- Introduce Learners to the field of psychology and behavioral studies.
- Familiarize Learners with the fundamental bodies of theoretical and applied
knowledge of psychology in the core courses.
- Provide Learners with a basic understanding of human behavior to better
understand themselves and their relationships with others.
- Enable Learners to integrate formal academic learning with personal
experiences so that learning is meaningful, personalized, and relates to personal or
professional needs.
- Expose Learners to the diversity of the global environment.
To meet these learning objectives, Learners are required to satisfy courses in the following three
areas: Core Psychology Courses, General Education Courses, and Elective Psychology Courses.
Requirements
The Bachelor’s degree requires a total of 120 semester credits.
- A minimum of 30 credits of instruction must be completed through the University.
- A minimum of 39 credits must be in general education with requirements in several specified areas.
- A minimum of 42 credits in the Psychology program area with 15 of those credits in the required core courses.
- Cumulative grade point average of "C", 2.0, or higher.
The University may accept a maximum of 90 semester credits in transfer toward the Bachelor's degree for
course work completed at an accredited four-year college or university with a grade average of "C"
or better. The University may also accept up to 90 semester credits in transfer toward the Bachelor's
degree for graduates of an accredited community college with which NCU has entered into a formal
partnership agreement.
